spider web apples

here’s a fun healthy-ish snack that brings all the tangy sweet flavors of fall: apple, caramel + pretzel with a touch of candy! if you make one snack during the halloween season, this one is worth the effort + chances are they’ll ask you for it again + again–a very flavorful + memorable snack!

building blocks:
(serves 1-4)

green apples, sliced
caramel sauce
mini rod pretzels
white/vanilla melting candy
chocolate morsels (milk or semi sweet)
apple corer or small shape cutter

directions:
(10-15 minutes)

prepare a board or dish for apples (where you will place the finished product)
these can be made ahead sat in the fridge for better timing afterschool
melt candies in microwave according to package; typically anywhere from 1-2 minutes on 50% power, stirring every :30
place melted candy in a piping bag or plastic sandwich bag + do not cut until ready to pipe onto apple (see below)
wash + slice apple, coring each slice as you go with a small shape cutter, or core the apple before slicing
spread caramel sauce (or nut butter!) thinly on each apple slice, or to taste
lay one mini pretzel across the diameter of each apple slice
break 2-3 more pretzels in half, laying each piece around the apple to form the “radius” of the web
cut the piping bag + squeeze the melted candy in a circular fashion to create the webbing “spiral” between pretzel pieces
drop on a few chocolate spiders (morsels)

serve it up: placed on a shared snack board by themselves or enjoyed as part of a larger board, these are sure to please!

we hope you love the way your kids will find
their new favorite foods when they eat from a board!
