mozzarella mummy

well, this was a happy accident! as i cut the amount of cheese i’d be serving on our spook-tac-ular snack board, i noticed the end was scored into (almost) precut slices. i simply continued making cuts in the section of cheese i’d decided to serve on the board, knowing the messier the slices looked, the better the “wrapped” effect, then topped it off with two balsalmic glaze dots for eyes.

mozzarella can be served alongside so many great foods. here i served it alongside apple slices, but other ideas are listed below–such a fun way to expose kids to a different presentation of cheese! if there is any hesitation, you can explain mozzarella is often found on cheese pizza or as the ever familiar lunchbox string cheese. you know what’s funny? my kids don’t love string cheese but ate this up in a blink!

our little mummy was a welcome addition on this year’s halloween board + we’re excited to share it with you here. please share what amazing things you pair your mozzarella mummy with too!

building blocks:
(serves 2-4)
mozzarella log, sliced
balsamic glaze

a few additions that would be right at home on this board:
apples, sliced
cherry tomatoes + basil
crostini
pistachios
pepperonis

directions:
(5 minutes)
cut a portion of the mozzarella log to serve your desired number of snackers
slice mozzarella unevenly from top to bottom
dab two tiny dots of balsamic glaze for eyes

serve alongside any of the foods you love! or add to a larger board.

we hope you love the way your kids will find
their new favorite foods when they eat from a board!
