this time of year does something to my brain–so many creative ideas fill my mind during the days + weeks leading up to halloween. this, coupled with a recent goal of resetting our resident snack monsters’ afterschool choices landed me here: apple teeth!
while i don’t remember eating apples covered in peanut butter as a kid (though we definitely dipped them in those caramel cups often), i think it’s one of those pairings that tastes like they were made to go together! it kind of reminds me of all those lunches mom sent to school– pbj sandwiches with an apple on the side.
this snack is super easy + fun. bonus: i’ve noticed if the kids get to have some fun with their food, they eat it up even more eagerly!! hooray for healthy snacks being back in the lineup.
hope you find this idea helpful! if all goes well, i’ll be sharing a few more ideas as we try them out with our kiddos this month.
building blocks:
(serves 1)
1 small apple, any flavor
favorite nut butter
mini marshmallows
directions:
(1-2 minutes per monster mouth)
first, wash + slice the apple
next, spread nut butter on two slices as you like, adding at least enough for marshamallows to stick
then, add mini marshmallows along the curved side of the apple slice
last, stack the second nut butter covered slice on top to complete the monster mouth
bite like a sandwich or like one of my girls loves to do: disassemble to savor every bite.
“marker” feedback: “yummmmyy!!” & “can i eat the last three marshmallows from the bag?!” 🙃
we hope you love the way your kids will find
their new favorite foods when they eat from a board!
