after ten years of trying, we finally hit the sweet spot of meal planning. 😅 realizing how much easier it is to plan a weeks’ worth of meals when we have a theme, we leaned in + just. can’t. quit. sure–we’ve tried to mix up the daily themes, but we always return to what we love most. to be honest, we absolutely took the summer off from meal planning because, sometimes it is just too hot to cook + almost anything goes in the summer months, which actually meant there were more meals prepared in a spread style. when given a choice, our kids prefer food on a served on a board.
so thursdays have been sushi night for ryan + i since we moved to atlanta, a tradition that was born from our first meal shared the day we closed on our first home together. sushi thursday was the first meal that became a fixture on our weekly plan. from there all the other days came from just trying to make another easy habit like sushi thursday.
over time, we have rarely parted from our thursday favorite. while our daughters have joined in the fun from time to time, they still aren’t quite ready for the true fish rolls that we enjoy…enter, toddler charcuterie! read all about it here.
we so want to share this fun idea with other families! it’s been an unexpected tool that has become a mealtime mainstay. when days are so full, we need an easy homemade meal that doesn’t sacrifice quality or flavor for the sake of time. you say impossible? we say “here–it actually is very possible!”
happy thursday friends!!
